Automatically Creating Entity Relationship Diagrams

I am wondering whether I can use Visio to automatically create Entity
Relationship diagrams from data supplied from an external source. I don't
mean the sort of ER Diagrams that are used to document systems. What I want
to be able to do is automatically create a diargam of a network of
Busines/Personal Contacts that exist between Organisations an people in the
real-world.

We have a database that can supply the information in SQL Server, but want
to automatically generate such a diagram from the information it contains.

Can Visio be used for such a purpose? Which Diagram would you think best?
What format would the data need to be in?

If you know well visio, it might not be difficult.
