Automatically Lock Document

Mickey

Hi,
Is it possible to automatically lock a document when opening. I have a
document with form fields. When certain users open the document I want the
form fields to be locked so they will only be able to enter text in the form
field. I can't rely on the user to lock the document. I can't save the
document with it locked because other users may need to check the document
out and edit it.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,
Mickey

Why don't you just distribute it locked and give the password to those that
need to edit it?

Otherwise, how can the macro know when it should lock the document and when
it should not?

Salut!

There's a further reason not to attempt the proposed locking at open: If the
user has his or her macro security level set to High or Very High, or if they
hold down the Shift key while starting Word, the macro won't run. That would
leave the form unlocked.

Jean-Guy's suggestion is the _only_ reasonable solution.

Ah!, of course... Forgot about that! thanks for completing my thoughts!
