Automating Word 2003 (environment customization, etc)

I'm just starting to look at automating Word in an application. I don't
know if it is possible, but I would like to use word as a text editor on a
form (kind of like the rich-text editor) or to at least be able to severely
limit command-bar functionality. I have found a lot of examples for working
with documents, but nothing on interface customization or embedding word on
a form. Is this possible or am I barking up the wrong tree? Are there any
books, examples or documentation that might help me? I haven't found
anything, but am still holding out hope.
