automating word embedded within IE

Hi,

I would like to embed a word document in an IE window (presumably with an
object or iframe tag) and then to have some control over it from the
enclosing web page.

I presume I will need to produce some kind of scriptable client side
download which controls word (or is a word plug-in), and have that expose
COM interfaces which I can call from the web page, but I have no idea where
to start or what the options are. I would like to make it compatible with as
many versions of word as possible - preferably 2000-2007.

anyone got any hints or examples of doing this type of thing?
