automation error unspecified error

After upgrading from office xp to office 2003, I get the
following error message . . . "automation error.
unspecified error" Even if I am opening a blank
worksheet, I get this error. I have uninstalled 2003 and
reinstalled (w/o upgrading), but I still get the same
error. Any ideas?
