Autonumber Visio flowchart shapes

Hi,

I’ve got process flowcharts drawn using Visio2003’s Basic Flowchart Shapes.

But I want to number some of the shapes & put cross-references with a Word
file which explains the shape.

How can I automate the shape numbering? Right now it’s manual so if I
remove one item, all subsequent items must be manually updated (which is
quite daunting!).

Hi Bob,

you can use the number shapes wizard in the visio addins
(tools/add-ons/visio extras/number shapes)
once you deleted a shape then you reset the teller(number assigned/start
with/put on 1) and the recounting will start
this wizard will only count flowchart shapes like process/decision etc. but
not connectors
for other selection scenarios you will need to create a custom macro
