Autonumbering

I

Okay, I am about to pull my hair out over this one!! I am a medical
transcriptionist and I type "SOAP" notes. When I get to the "A" (assessment)
section, I start numbering the problems, for example:

A:(tab) 1)(tab)I type the first problem in
(tab) 2)(tab)and it starts autonumbering after that, lining up the text
appropriately under the text above it as such.
each subsequent number appears when I hit "enter" at the end of a line, and
it lines up appropriately under the number above it until I am done.

I have "automatic numbering" and "automatic bulleted lists" checked
everywhere possible. I don't know what else to do. I hope someone can help
b/c this is a deal breaker if i have to go into each report and "fix" the
unaligned text and numbering!!

Can you tell us what the problem is?

Maybe you can just set up that section of the document as a two column
table, with A entered into the first column of the first row and click the
Numbered List item in the second column, then each time you add a new row by
tabbing the second column will contain the next number.
