"AutoRecover has been disabled for this session of Excel"

My setup:
Dual 2 GHz Power PC G5
Mac OS X 10.4.9
Excel 2004 11.3.3 (061213)

LAN: Server running Mac OS X 10.4.9, centralized server

Issue: "AutoRecover has been disabled for this session of Excel"

I am unable to save spreadsheets due to the error above. This is
generally followed by an error that says a backup file can't be saved
and the spreadsheet can not be saved. Several machines in our office
are experiencing the same problem.

The only similar support article pertaining to this issue I have found
is: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/312265

Does this apply to Excel 2004 too? Does anyone have a solution?

Sometimes we cannot even Save As either to the server or to local
drives. Tried deleting .plist preferences for Excel...no success.

Thanks.

Hello,

Thank you for reporting this issue. Have you tried the workaround described
in the KB article? If so, did that solve the problem? What about checking
permissions? Is there anything unique to the machines that are having the
issue compared to those that aren't?

I look forward to your reply.
