Autoshape defaults

Sam

I have created an autoshape, formatted it with no fill,
blue border, typed text into it selecting blue font and
ticked box for wrap text. I then clicked on draw, set
autoshape defaults.

Now when I create an autoshape it has teh correct fill,
border and font, but hasn't 'remembered' to wrap text. Is
this something I will ahve to do manually everytime?

Thanks

Hi Sam,

Evidently so. I tried several different methods in PPT
2003 and it always drops the wrap text check except for an
actual text box.

Hello,

This is by design.

* New Autoshapes always have "Word wrap text in Autoshape" turned OFF.
* New drawn Text boxes (click and drag to set width) always have "Word
wrap text in Autoshape" turned ON and "Resize AutoShape to fit text" turned
ON.
* New "click" created Text boxes (labels) always have "Word wrap text in
Autoshape" turned OFF and "Resize AutoShape to fit text" turned ON.

Also, Text boxes are always unfilled and unframed by default.

These settings are what distinguish text boxes from AutoShapes, which is
why they are not affected by the changes to the default settings.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) have suggestions about how
PowerPoint should handle default formatting for text boxes and AutoShapes,
don't forget to send your feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft
at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

It's VERY important that, for EACH wish, you describe in detail, WHY it is
important TO YOU that your product suggestion be implemented. A good wish
submssion includes WHAT scenario, work-flow, or end-result is blocked by
not having a specific feature, HOW MUCH time and effort ($$$) is spent
working around a specific limitation of the current product, etc. Remember
that Microsoft receives THOUSANDS of product suggestions every day and we
read each one but, in any given product development cycle, there are ONLY
sufficient resources to address the ones that are MOST IMPORTANT to our
customers so take the extra time to state your case as CLEARLY and
COMPLETELY as possible so that we can FEEL YOUR PAIN.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
