autoshape moving down even with up arrow

I am using a cirlce/oval shape to hilight items in a paper. Until yesterday
afternoon I was able to move these autoshapes anywhere on the page I needed
them. Now I can not move them with the mouse with out them jumping around.
and all the arrow keys move the shape downward on the document. any
suggestions how to fix this issue?

This is a problem I have all the time. I don't understand why it happens, but
it does. Here is how I've fixed it (and sometimes it takes trial and error to
find the right spot).

Select your object, right click, and select Format Object. Go to the Layout
tab, click the "Advance" button

1. Uncheck the "move with text" option (unless you need the object to move
with the text, but from your description it sounds like you don't.

2. Check the "Locked" option, to lock the object anchor to the appropriate
paragraph (make sure the anchor is at the beginning of the paragraph you want
as an ancho.

3. Use the alignment options to lock the graphi to its position on the page.
I usually find that it's easiest (when possible to use teh alignment options,
but if you use absolute position, you'll have to reset the numbers a couple
of times to get it exactly where you want the object on the page.

Hope this helps

Eric
