Autoshapes - Semi-circles

Hello FrontPage experts!

I'm a FrontPage 2003 user.

I was endeavoring to create an autoshape in my website that was a
semi-circle (to use as a graphic in a layer), but to no avail so far.
I've done searches on the Google user sites to find ways in which to
'create a semi-circle out of a full circle' within Office 2003, but
it's not looking quite as easy as I expected, even though I also use
Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint and have searched all
those help sites extensively as well.

I also thought I could draw this shape free hand with the drawing tool,
but it doesn't seem to want to be used in such a free-hand manner.

I guess I need to purchase additional graphics software? I subscribed
to http://www.animationfactory.com but believe it or not, I still can't
find a simple graphic of a semi-circle, and obviously I'm not aware of
turning one of the Microsoft autoshapes into one.

Any suggestions? If I need to purchase a good graphics program, I
will, but man, I thought that Microsoft might have had an option for an
autoshape that was a semi-circle (or at least a circle that one could
morph into a semi-circle).

Rather than using the auto shapes (they don't display in browsers other than
IE) create an image in your graphics editor.

Thank you so much for responding!

As far as I know, I don't own any sort of 'graphics editor' (but then
again, I'm so new at this...I likely wouldn't know a "graphics editor"
from a wooden post, even if it bit me in the proverbial ass).

Would you perhaps be able to recommend a good graphics editor I could
purchase?

The only programs that I'm aware are installed on my PC are included in
my Office 2003 programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), as well as
the external programs that I've purchased separately such as Publisher
and FrontPage.

As far as any other types of graphic programs...well...I don't think I
have any...other than the subscription I purchased to an outside
animation web site.

Gosh, darn...all I wanted to do was turn a circle autoshape into a
semi-circle autoshape...but apparently, that's not possible within the
Microsoft programs that I have!

Hi Karen,

Having some type of a graphics/image editing program is a "must" for doing
web pages. There's many to choose from. Arguably the best there is.. is
called Photoshop..great program but comes with a big price tag and learning
curve.

Many people use PaintShop:

I happen to like PhotoImpact from Ulead:

There's lots more though than those. Using these types of programs will make
it easy for you to create a semi-circle..but they do a whole lot more than
that.

Use a vector drawing tool like Serif Draw. The current version (8) is superb
but version 4 is free:

This would make drawing shapes easier than a bitmap graphics package but
there is even a free version of one of these on the site above!
