Autoshapes

I am using Word 2004 for Mac (Mac OS X 10.4.7), Version 11.0. Every
time I try to use Autoshapes, Word freezes and I get the spinning
wheel. I have to force quit Word.
I have tried every way of inserting an autoshape and it keeps doing
this. Everything works fine with pictures and WordArt though.
Do you know what I can do to make Autoshapes work?

Hi Monica -

If your post is accurate my first suspicion is that both your OS and Office
(in particular) are not sufficiently up-to-date. OS X is now at 10.4.10 and
Office is at 11.3.7 - if you're actually still at 11.0 I'm surprised any of
the Office apps even launch

Use Apple's Combo updater, then run Repair Disk Permissions. After that, use
the Help in an Office app to update Office - you'll need 11.3.5, 11.3.6 &
11.3.7 in that order. See if that doesn't clear things up.
