Hi, I have an issue getting autosum to sum up a column. When selecting
autosum and the range all I get is a display of the formula and range
=SUM(D2:D10) but no sum.

Any ideas how to solve this?

Thank you

Any possibility that there's a little somethin' extra like a space
before the = in the formula?
Or might
Excel > Preferences... > View > Formulas
be checked?

You may have the cell formatted as "text" which will display it exacty
as entered.

Thank you to both, its strange as when I copy the work sheet to a new
one the aotosum works fine. After I save the file and reopen it again
any new changes or autosum stops working and starts displaying the
range again!

I made sure that the cells are formated correctly still this problem
persists.

Coincidentally, I had exactly the same problem today in a spreadsheet I use
all the time. I tried reformatting the columns as 'Currency', and 'Numbers'
with no success. This was starting to make me daffy because I could not
figure out what was going on. Then I retyped one of the numbers in the
column, and sure enough the newly typed number appeared in the autosum cell.
So I just retyped each number in the column, and the autosum feature worked.
I still have not found out what the root problem was, but at least I was able
to make the spreadsheet work. BTW, the autosum feature did not work anywhere
in the spreadsheet.

It looks like your workbook was converted to text. Perhaps did you save it
as a txt file, and then tried to re use it?
