Ok group. I really need help for a "dummy". I am a medical
transcriptionist. I am try to get information on how to back up my autoTEXT
and my dictionary so I can transfer information to the new computer. I have
spent the last year of my life creating this on my old computer..... NOW I
really need this info on the new one. I transcribe for a multitude of
doctors, who rarely use the same terminology, scripts, etc. I will be lost
for another year recreating this info. SO PLEASE.... SOMEONE OUT THERE MUST
KNOW HOW TO DO THIS. Thank you ever so much.

AutoText entries are stored in templates. If you haven't deliberately chosen a
different template, they're all in your Normal.dot template. The default
location for the Normal.dot template is a hidden folder, which you can display
in the file manager program (variously called Windows Explorer or My Computer)
by typing or pasting this into the address box:

%appdata%\Microsoft\Templates

and pressing the Enter key. Copy the Normal.dot file from that folder on the old
computer and paste it into the same folder on the new computer, replacing a file
with the same name if it's there already. [Note that it's possible to choose a
different location for the templates, but if you're that unfamiliar with your
computer, it's unlikely.]

Your custom dictionary is stored by default in a file named Custom.dic in the
folder

%appdata%\Microsoft\Proof

Again, simply copy the file and paste it into the same location on the new
computer.
