Autotext entries don't seem to be associated with templates

Hi everyone,

I'd be very grateful if anyone could explain the following:

I created a new Word template (.dot file) and some associated autotext
entries. I then created a set of Word documents based on this
template. This has led to the following strange situation:

When I open one of the Word documents, I can see the new autotext
entries that belong to the original Word template. When anybody else
opens one of the Word documents they cannot see the autotext entries
associated with the original template.

This leaves me with one hypothesis: autotext entries don't 'belong' to
templates, or perhaps this association isn't carried through to Word
documents based on the original template.

Anyone know anything about this?

Many thanks,
Sherlock

AutoText entries are stored in templates, not the documents based on them.
If you are giving your document to someone else on a different computer,
then they will see the AutoText entries in their own copy of Normal.dot. In
order to share the AutoText entries in your template, you would have to send
the template along with the document. Also, note that AutoText is stored in
Normal.dot by default; unless you specifically selected your template when
saving them, they will be saved in Normal.dot and not your template.
