AutoText Entries over the Network

Dan

Hello All,

Is it possible to store Master AutoText Entries over the
network where multiple users can use them, like an addin?
And can the Master file be updated without interrupting
their application? Or can an startup addin look to a
Master AutoText file to see if it has been updated and
copies them locally? How should I approach this?

Thanks in Advanced,
Dan

Hi Dan,

The most hassle-free way is to have each user's system copy
such a master file (template) into the local machine's Word
Startup folder at login or bootup. By doing this, you can
edit the master file anytime without running around trying
to get everyone to close Word at the same time -- laughable
at best in any good-sized office. And anyone who needs the
updated file right away can simply reboot and have it. This
also avoids the legendary delays and other glitches related
to reading a file from the network vs. locally.

To accomplish this, you can either try messing around with
login scripts (whatever they are...) or just use the batch
file method with the DOS XCOPY command, as suggested at
