Autotext not saving with document

I have created autotext and assigned it to a button on a custom toolbar. I
save the document and when I reopen it; all the autotext I created is no
longer there. Toolbar made it but not the autotext.

So I need to code the toolbar or autotext into the VB Editor also?

Thanks

P.S. I had another question about toolbars but it was already asked and
answered. Thanks for that answer also.

Autotext entries are stored in Templates. Did you save the Template?

Thanks for the quick response Doug. Most assuredly. However, I was also
experiencing problems with the new menu/toolbar I created partially replacing
some of the Adobe Acrobat plug-in menu. So maybe that had something to do
with it. I found the answer to that problem here in search. So let me try the
whole thing again. If I avoid the Adobe issue, maybe it will save it.

Thanks again

The autotext appears to be saving with the template. I save the template to a
network drive and assign that location to the Workgroup Template directory
under Word>Tools>Options>File locations. When I access the template (verified
by savedate to be correct one) from another computer, the custom autotext is
not there. I checked the macro security settings which are set to Medium and
I do get the dialog box asking to enable macros. I get the macros but not the
autotext. However, accessing the same template in the same manner from my
computer, I get the autotext.

This is getting to be quite embarrassing in training when the template does
not work completely repeatedly. I go back to my computer and it works fine;
when I use another computer (using the same template directory) it does not.
Another oddity I noticed, when accessing the template from the File>New
selection on my computer, the template icon shows up in its own directory tab
in the dialog box as expected. However, when accessing the template from the
File>New selection on another computer the icon appears in the General tab
and there is no specific directory tab in the dialog box.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jack

The autotext saves with the template apparantly. Since it is there when I
access the template from my computer. I save the template to a network drive
and assign it as the Workgroup templates directory under Word's
Tools>Options>File locations. If I access the template with File>New on my
machine it is there. However, if I use another computer in the same manner,
the template is there along with the macros, but not the autotext.

Another oddity which may shed some light on the problem. I saved the
template to a network drive three directories deep. The template icon appears
in two locations in the dialogh box depending where I am accessing it from.
Accessing it from my machine, it appears in directory specific tab in the
dialog box (as well as the General tab). However, when I access the template
from another computer replicating every move, the icon appears only under the
General tab (along with some files with .doc extensions) and there is no
directory specific tab in the dialog box.

Thanks for any assistance as this is begining to get very embarassing for me
in training when the template does not work from the training machine.
