Autotext only works when it wants to

I have a client with 3 pc's. All three of them use the Autotext function of
Word 2003 for entering long medicine names and medical terms. It seems that
all three have started only "filling in" the words that were already in the
"dictionary" and none of their words are filled in. The words they want to
use are in the list if you go to INSERT-AUTOTEXT-AUTOTEXT. But, even there,
if you type the name of ANY word, it will no come up in the preview window
(dunno if its supposed too. but if not, its kind of a useless screen).

Any ideas?
