Because we have over 100 paragraphs that can be used in this particular
document (which is also a merge document), I have autotext each paragraph.
My boss has decided to revised this document. The problem is some paragraphs
include a heading which is number (i.e. Section 1 - Disposition of Residence,
Section 2 - Disposition of Personal Effects, etc.). I made the Section
number a AutoNumLgl field. Once a person has finished autotexting in all the
paragraphs that they want, the Section numbers are automatically entered in
sequence. Some paragraphs contain numbering listing different issues.
Currently those issues are listed using the regular numbering format. He
wants to change that so that the numbering that we use correspond with the
Section number (or paragraph heading). In other words, for the paragraphs
that have numbering in them (which is not all of them), we were just using
the basic numbering format (1. 2. 3. etc.). Now he wants the number to start
with the Section number. If the heading is Section 4 – Disposition of
Personal Effects, he wants the number in the paragraph to start with 4.1,
4.2, 4.3, etc. The problem is since all the paragraph are autotexted into
the document, you won’t know what the Section number is and the Section
numbers aren’t established until you autotext all the paragraphs into the
document first. So the questions is, how do I get the paragraph numbering to
reference the Section number without having to do the entire document first
and then go back and manually number the paragraphs. Is there a way to
number the paragraphs where is will start the number with the Section number
even though the Section number might not start with 1? How do I get the
numbering to reference the Section number first and then regular numbering
(i.e. (Section #).1, (Section #).2, etc.). The office uses Word 2002 version.
