The autotext address has an old zip code but nothing I have tried enables
me to update/replace the old zip code with a new one. Using V 10 for Mac
with Panther. Any ideas?

You need to tell me which version of Word you are using before I can answer,
and which address you are talking about -- your own or someone else's.

Usually, this can be fixed by re-naming your Normal template. Look up
templates in the Help.

The only things I can think of would be
1) in the Word Preferences; User Information section, or
2) a manually created Autotext entry that needs to be changed.

I don't see any Autotext entry on my Word referencing address...
(running Word 10.1.4, OS-X 10.3.3)

Hope this helps...

.I am using Word X for Mac OS X. And the address I am referring to is my
own address/zip code. Deleteing my old zip code and inserting the new one
does nothing> I have gone into Preferences, and clicked on "user
Information" which gives a form to fill out for name, address, phone, zip
code, etc. And this refuses to be updated with the new zip.

OK. It's a corrupted Preferences File. And I can't remember which one :)

Try this: Quite all Office Applications (ALL of them) then Navigate to your
User/Library/Preferences/Microsoft folder and delete the Office 10 First Run
file.

Word will take a long time to start next time, and should prompt you for new
details.

Sorry: There's a better fix for this that involves deleting the exact file
these details are stored in, but I cannot remember it or find it. Hopefully
someone else will remember which one it is...

If you get desperate, run the Office Remover utility from the Office CD.
Then delete the ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft folder. Then re-install
Office. I have a feeling that won't cure it either: I believe these details
are lodged in a hidden file you cannot see until you get into terminal and
do a chmod on it. Sorry: I had to do this two years ago, and I have
forgotten how. If Paul Berkowitz was here, he would remember!

Cheers
