AutoTextInsert

Okay, I don't have a question, but I do have a sure-fire solution for those poor souls who are still trying to find out how to insert an AutoText entry into a document with a shortcut key.

Here's how. First, go to the Tools menu, and select Customize Keyboard. When the Customize Keyboard window pops up, scroll down in the Categories box, and select All Commands. Then, scroll down in the Commands box to InsertAutoText, which select. Once InsertAutoText is selected, the viewer will see that InsertAutoText already has an assigned keyboard shortcut: Command+Option+V. I tried it out, and it works just fine. However, because I have lazy fingers, I decided to create a new, simpler shortcut key for InsertAutoText: Command+Numpad+. (Try it out. You'll be glad you did.)

Hi Douglas -

With no lack of appreciation for your technique or your willingness to share
it, I approach AutoText from a different perspective :)

The built-in feature that triggers AutoText entries based on the first four
characters of the assigned name works far better for me for 2 reasons: those
names more accurately allow me to remember what triggers which entry & it
leaves available more custom stroke assignments for other purposes/commands
that don't provide that capability.

I guess that's why there's more than one horse in a race - it wouldn't make
for nearly as much excitement if everyone had to root for the same horse.
