Autoupdate downloads unneeded updates

J

jumme

I have an Office packet (Small business edition, if I recall right), but I
have only installed Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Nevertheless the autoupdate
downloads and installes Outlook and Publisher updates too.

The harm of that is, that big updates sometimes jam my computer for a while
and they are junk that speed up the need for re-installing Windows or fixing
the hard drive.

So, I wonder why autoupdate doesn't check (or ask) which programs are
installed and update only the needed ones.

Hi Jumme,

MS Office Updates are based on the purchased product, rather than the selection of only specific features. This allows you turn
on/off various programs and features and still have things current without a separate download.
