Availability - View Web Site... directs to HTTP instead of HTTPS

I setup MySites to be hosted at https://mysite

It works... Links to MySites in SharePoint go to Https://mysite/ . If
a user clicks on 'My Site' in the upper right corner, it properly
directs them to Https://mysite.

However, if a user clicks the little green availability circle next to
a user's name and clicks "View Web Site..." it goes to HTTP, not
HTTPS. Then it displays an error that the page can only be viewed over
a secure channel (HTTPS).

How do I make that 'View Web Site...' menu item from the availabily
menu direct to HTTPS://mysite instead of HTTP://mysite?

I am not sure that it is a SharePoint only setting. In outlook, the
same availability circle is next to people's names. The 'View Web
Site...' menu item is there too and directs to HTTP://mysite. I
thought maybe it was pulling the address from Active Directory, so I
changed the "Web Page' entry in AD to be HTTPS://mysite/personal/username/
but it still didnt work.

I figured it out.

Windows Live Messenger reads the MySite address from the user's Active
Directory container when Live Messenger Starts up. In order to make
the change take effect, I had to change the 'Web Page' addres in
active directory from http:// to https:// and then close and restart
Live Messenger and Office.

I just now have to go through all of the users in AD that created
profiles before I switched MySite to use HTTPS instead of HTTP.
