Average Attrition Rate

Our company attrition rate calculation = Attrits / Average Headcount.

I want to use the same calculation for any set of agents, whether th
agents are in classroom trianing or production. The problem is tha
the training group needs to back into the number of agents that need t
start a training class.

For example. If you have a class that starts with 25 and ends with 2
there is a 20% fallout but due to average headcount in the calculatio
the attrition rate is 22.1%.

HOW CAN I HAVE A FORMULA THAT BACKS INTO THE 25 THAT I WOULD NEED T
START IN CLASSROOM TRAINING? I WOULD LIKE TO USE THE 20 THAT EN
TRAINING AND THE 22.1% ATTRITION RATE IN THE FORMULA IF POSSIBLE.
WOULD LIKE TO KEEP USING THE AGERAGE HEADCOUNT IN THE ATTRITION RATE I
POSSIBLE

I have attached a file.

Thank you for your help.

Hello:

A little algebra is all it takes.

Since A = (S-E)/((S+E)/2)

Where: A is attrition rate
S is the starting number
E is the ending number

Solve for S:

S = E*((A/2 +1)/(1-A/2))

Row/Col B C
59 Example
60 A: 0.222222
61 End with: 45 Formula in C62
62 Start with 56.25 =C61*(C60/2+1)/(1-C37/2)

You'll have to decide how to get the 1/4 of person to start.
