Average Days by Task

Iona

Hello,

Please don't think me silly. I am a new user to Project Professional 2007
and I love it thus far. I am seeking a solution or some direction on how to
go about my request below.

I have 50 Summary Tasks with 20 SubTasks that I track. I am looking to
obtain an average number of days it takes to start these specific tasks by
quarter. Can I do this in project? I was able to do a pivot into excel and
get my results. But I can't find anything in Project Help. So I am coming to
the Experts!
PS I have these tasks Marked and as Milestones.

Example:
Job Start (20 Job Starts that range from 7/1/08 - 6/30/09)
Construction Complete (" ")
Design Approval
etc....

Desperate for help - Thanks so much for anytime or input Iona

I am a little unclear on your request. "Average Days to Start." Can you be
more specific? Do you mean Average Duration?

There is no "Average" function in Project. You may need to use Excel.
However, more information may help me provide a better answer

Thanks Jim for your response. I ended up creating a customized grouping of my
specific tasks and then a customize column reflecting a formula rollup. It
worked out.

Have a nice day - Iona

Thanks for the input. Yes there is an average function available for custom
fields in the formula dialog. I am glad you found a solution.
