AVERAGEIF ??

Hi all,

Not sure if AVERAGEIF is correct but what I'm trying to
achieve is an average of a certain region:

A B C
1 Region Sales Cost
2 North 2000 1750
3 West 1500 1200
4 South 3250 2900
5 North 1200 950
6 East 800 700

This list is 200 rows deep.

So my formula for sales :
= ??????? (A2:A202,"North",B2:B202)
Not sure what to put after the "=" or if I'm on the right
track.

Any help much appreciated.

Use this (modify to suit) with CSE (ctrl+shift+enter)
=AVERAGE(IF(A1:A9="North",B1:B9))
