I would like to find a way to Avoid the dialog that says
'Microsoft Office Access has encountered a problem and needs to close'
With option buttons 'Send Error Report' and 'Don't Send'.

We would all like to avoid it. It is like a "blue screen of death",
meaning you don't EVER want to see it. It is my opinion that this is
caused entirely by errors not gracefully handled in Microsoft Office
products. Doing the simplest things can cause an application to bomb
out. For developers, it is hideous because it looks as if the
developer caused the problem.

For years Access 2003 would bomb out if you had the nerve to use the
clipboard to copy controls on a form design and then nudge them into
place using arrow keys! Now you can click on a hyperlink that
encourages you to download Office 2003 SP3, which changes intermittent
crashes into solid problems throughout Office.

Good luck to all Office developers.

What version of Access are you running? If Access 2007 there is a
brand new SP1. If Access 2003 there is newish SP3 which does have
some problems for some people.

I am running Access 2003 SP2 under XP Pro SP2 and get these results on
any PC I use. Installing Office 2003 SP3 might fix this intermittent
problem but causes a myriad of other problems.

Please Google for

problems "office 2003" (sp3 OR "service pack 3")

or check out "New Bugs in Access 2003 SP3" on Allen Browne's web site
http://www.allenbrowne.com/tips.html

and see what I am talking about.

BTW I have trouble remembering the last time Access 2003 SP2 crashed
on me. Months ago I'd say.

Tony,
Thanks for your reply. Actually my question should have been worded:
1. How do I debug the problem that causes the message.
2. Is there a way to configure Office/Access to default to send/not send the
error report so the dialog will not appear and prevent the app from
closing/restarting? If I answer the dialog Access normally resumes without a
problem.
That way my automated process will send reports to my customers
automatically and reliably until I can debug the problem or Microsoft can fix
it.

Operating System: Microsoft(R) Windows(R) Server 2003, Standard Edition
Version: 5.2.3790 Service Pack: 2.0 Build 3790 Hot Fix: XpsEPSC

Microsoft Access Version 11.0 Build 8166 References VBA, Access, stdole,
DAO, ADODB
Service Pack 2 is installed. The Update attempt to install Service Pack 3
was UNSUCCESSFUL!

I cannot directly correlate the 'Access has encountered a problem and needs
to close' message with the following Hang data but I suspect a relationship.
I ran a query on the Servers System Information - System Summary - Software
Environment - Windows Error Reporting data.
Type: Application Hang
Details: Hanging application MSACCESS.EXE, version 11.0.8166.0, hang module
hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000.
