Avoid Excel from Opening in different instants of excel.

When I open more than one excel file (eg: test1.xls and test2.xls), bothe
files are opened in a new instants of excel. Hence I can not give links
between files using formulae.

I tried checking/un-checking "Tools - Options - View-Check Windows in
Taskbar".

Do any one know how to get all the excel files i opened in the same window??

I'm guessing you're using Excel on Windows, not on Mac OS X, which is the
topic of this forum.

Anyhow, the fact that you see two instances of Excel in the taskbar
shouldn't prevent you from having links between two workbooks. In the first
workbook, type the equal sign (=), then switch to the other workbook and
click on the cell that's needed for the calculation in the first workbook.
Then hit Enter or another arithmetic sign (+-*/) to return to the original
workbook.

In addition to Laroche's comments, not only is it obvious you're on a
Windows system but you didn't bother to specify what version of Excel you're
using. However, the Windows in Taskbar option has nothing to do with
displaying multiple files/windows simultaneously. Regardless of that
setting:

1- In Excel 2007 go to the View Tab & select Arrange All in the Window
Group,

2- In prior versions select Arrange All from the Window menu.
