Can Outlook do an "away" message to be sent to anyone who sends you an e-mail during a certain time period - vacation etc??

This is called the "Out of office" feature and it should be on your tools
menu. You didn't specify if you're running on a corporate network?

The Out of Office Assistant is only available if you are using Exchange
server on the back end. If you are not using Exchange, you can emulate the
Out of Office Assistant by using Rules. However, you will need to leave
your machine on, Outlook open and expect to be on every spammer's "live"
list as you will not be able to discriminate between who does and who does
not get a response.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, Joe asked:
