Axes in Excel Chart

In previous versions of Excel, when you were creating a chart, it would ask you for the source data for the X-values and the Y-values. In Office 2008, it just asks for the Y-values. I cannot figure out how to enter source data for the X-values, so you get labels, rather than just numbers 1, 2, 3 ...

I think this may be a bug. But, you can update the series formula to point
to the x axis label values. Highlight the chart series. In the formula bar
there are probably 2 consecutive commas in the series formula. Place the
cursor between these commas and then drag through the cells whose values you
want to see in the chart. Press Enter.

Yikes a bug, really? How did this get through? This is pretty fundamental stuff...

This hack does work, thankfully. Never would've figured it out on my own...
