Azeri Language

I have a question regarding the language noted above:

We are adding phrases in the Azeri language and are having issues with the
characters. If we use the Azeri Cyrillic font (LCID 2092) the characters
appear correctly in html, but not in RTF and PDF.

We tried using the Azeri Latin fonts, but we cannot get the “şâ€, “ğâ€, and
“ə†characters to convert properly in Unicode (LCID 1068). Other characters
such as “öâ€, “üâ€, and “ç†convert to Unicode and appear correctly in the
database.

Can anyone help?
Thank you, ACarella

It is an msds program that reads phrases of various languages through Excel
spreadsheets. To date it reads 46 langauges. However, we are having an
issue with Azeri. Azeri has 9 alphabet characters not included in the
Russian alphabet. That is all I know. Thank you.

Do you know whether the problem is in character encoding or font rendering?

In other words, is the problem that “ş†isn't saved as Unicode code point
x015F, or is the problem that the character is encoded correctly, but it
looks like a box when you view it in a web browser?

Also, does the problem show up when you open the input file in Excel, or
does the problem show up when the msds program outputs the file as RTF/PDF.

If the character shows up as a box, then you might be able to fix the
problem by switching the phrase to a different font. Some fonts support many
more characters than other fonts. For example, "Ariel Unicode MS" contains
many more characters than "Cordia New." Font support is a big problem for
languages like Azeri that include several unique or rare letters.

If you are having problems on Windows 2000, then you might need to install
extra language support. Run "intl.cpl" from a command line. That shouldn't
be a problem for Azeri on Windows XP or newer.

Here are some other sites that might be helpful:
http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/reference/default.mspx and
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/goglobal/default.aspx are good general
resources for solving language-related problems.
