I have an Access 2000 system. Currently, it links to a
set of local databases. When I have multiple users, I
have been using Rep/Sync to create and manage replicas for
each user.
Because there is the possibility to work with data from
several different clients at one time, and there are
contractual requirements to keep the data in separate
databases, my front end allows selection of a client and
then links to the tables in the appropriate set of
databases.
Now I have an opportunity to put a single copy of each set
of the databases on a central server. The linking process
is painfully slow (45 minutes versus 20 seconds). What
considerations do I need to keep in mind and what can I
change to set this up for more realistic speeds?
