When starting Word I'm presented with a blank page which looks like a graph
sheet.
Whole page has vertical and horizontal lines. How do I reset so I only get a
blank page( default)? I've obviously changed a setting somewhere but can't
find where
do undo it.

Down in the bottom left hand corner of the word screen is a Draw button.
Click on it and you will get a draw menu up. Choose grid and take off the
check in the 'Display gridlines on screen' box.
