back-up doesn't work

I am a complete noob when it comes to computers so I'll need han
holding if anyone has an answer to this problem.
Outlook 2007 on xp has gone pear shaped on me and will not work.
have been messing around with files and gone into a big hole. Is ther
a way of 'starting again' with the backup facility on outlook? backu
says 'file in use'.

You might want to start by explaing what 'pear shaped' actually means, and
what 'messing with files' actually means.
If outlook isnt functioning at this stage you dont want to restore/open any
backups.
Maybe start by using your Outlook or Office cd to repair your installation
