How do you back-up a file in Word 2000. All I can find is
something called Zip and they want to charge you for that!

Thanks,

David

There are a lot of ways.

To "back-up" simply make another copy. You can configure Word to make
automatic backups on each save.

You also can use Explorer to simply copy the file into some other
folder, disk, etc.

Zip is a type of file format that compresses the data and stores a copy
of the file that uses up less space than the original. This is useful
of your document is large and you want the copy to fit on a floppy disk,
or are emailing it to someone. Winzip and PKzip are the market-leading
programs to do this.

Not really. This is a different kind of backup (it's the previous version,
not a current version). See http://home.zebra.net/~sbarnhill/SaveOptions.htm
