Background changes with pictures

Garsdad

I am tryng to build my first web site. Windows ME is not supported by
Dreamweaver, so I'm using Publisher 2000.

I created my background on the first page, set my navigation bar, added a
picture and copied this to every other page. When I added additional
pictures to subsequent pages, to show inventory, my background graphic was
replaced by a solid color (only when viewed as a web site; the publisher page
looks correct). I tried Jpeg and GIF formats, to no avail. I tried adding a
block of color to the background, and posting my pics within it, but as soon
as the pic is in, I lost the background graphic.

How do I avoid this?

Next question- when I upload this to my host, is it best to load the picture
files seperately, and the html text seperately, or should I save the file as
a web site, and load each file from the publisher folder seperately?

Thanks. I've never done this, and I am under the gun from my wife to get it
working!

Since you are under the gun, perhaps this will help:

It sounds like you are setting the background incorrectly, and the above
article by David Bartosik should help. In fact, I recommend that you go over
David's FAQ page, etc. to learn answers to questions you haven't known to
ask in using Publisher to produce your webpage. There is a wealth of
knowledge there.

David also has some articles on publishing your webpage, that might be
helpful, but the short answer is that you upload everything that was
generated to your publish folder when you Save As A Web Page. This includes
the index.html and the image files...not your original publisher document.
As to doing it separately, I suppose that would work, but I have found it
easier to just select all, and upload each file at one time. It seems to me
that you would be less likely to forget one that way.
