Background images

I'm using PowerPoint 2003 and I've inserted the company logo as a background
onto a blank slide, from a JPEG (Format->Background->Fill Effects->Picture).
I'd like to fade, or lighten, the background image so that it looks almost
like a watermark when I print hand-outs. I managed to do this once, using
PowerPoint, but can't for the life of me repeat the process. Any ideas?

Use Insert > Picture instead, and put it in the Slide Master (View > Master >
Slide Master). Now, you can modify the setting such as contrast and
brightness (Format > Picture).

I messed with it a bit more and tried Format > Picture > Color > Washout. I
then saved the new slide as a JPEG and am able to use it as a background for
any new presentations.
