When I want to insert an edited or cropped image from a webpage into a
Word document, I either
(a) drag it to the desktop, import it into iPhoto, crop it, export it
to Pictures, and then import it into the Word document; or
(b) drag it straight into the Word doc and then under Images on the
formatting palette select crop.
However, sometimes in either method an image that has a white
background appears with a black background. There doesn't appear to
be any consistent pattern. Sometimes using method (a) an image will
appear in iPhoto with a black background and then with a white
background when exported, and another image will appear with a black
background in both the iPhoto and the exported image.
Using method (b) an image will turn black when dragged into the Word
doc while other images retain their white background.
I'm using Mac OSX 10.4.11 and MacWord 2004 V.11.3
Very grateful for any advice on how to avoid black backgrounds for
imported images.
