background pictures

I want to put my stationary into excel and see my spreadsheet over it.
I'm actually trying to create an invoice on my stationary.

My stationary is a Photoshop file, but I can save it as anything that
will work.

Is there a way to do that in Excel.

Thanks, Richard

Hi Richard,

You can sort-of do that with Excel. If you choose Format > Sheet >
Background from the menu you can select an image to use as a background.

The only problem with this approach is that Excel will "tile" the image and
I don't see a way around this.

It's never too late to submit feature suggestions. Perhaps if you were to
suggest something like this for Office 2004 there might be time to get it
implemented.

the other issue with Format > Sheet > Background is that the background
picture doesn't print. If the OP want's to print invoices, he'll have to
take screen shots.

The only way to print the picture (that i know of) is to paste the
picture *on top* of the worksheet, and use the Transparancy control on
the Format/Picture/Colors and Lines dialog (with No Fill) to set the
appropriate transparancy (I'd recommend 70-80% to start, depending on
the saturation of the picture).

This of course, partly obscures what's underneath, but if your text is
Bold, you can get some pretty nice results. It also is a PITA in that
you can't directly select the cells with the mouse without moving the
picture out of the way, although using keys or the Name Box works fine.
If it's a dedicated report/invoice page, it may not present much of a
problem.

Hi John,

Wouldn't it a great feature if you could put an image into an Excel
worksheet background like you can in a Word document header? I hope someone
makes a feature suggestion like this and sends it to Microsoft.
