Okay, I admit: trying to use MSPublisher instead of buying some fancier
website authoring software.
I've already built a rudimentary family website, saved it as HTML
(xxxxxxx.htm plus a folder full of related files). Uploaded to Comcast.net's
personal web page area, all works satisfactorily EXCEPT
I've tried to associate various .mp3 files with various pages. They work as
intended when I ask for an MSPublisher preview, but after conversion to HTML
and upload, some work/some don't. My first thought was, "the page is looking
for a file on my PC rather than for the equivalent file on Comcast's server."
Well, that leads to two entirely different issues. First, since all the
,mp3's are on my PC, seems like all the web pages ought to work fine for me,
but they don't. Secondly, modifying the page within MSPublisher to tell it
to go to the Comcast server for the .mp3 file doesn't seem to work, ig I try
to put in a URL MSPublisher says it can't open that file.
So, I'm stymied, don't know what's wrong or how to fix it. If there's a
freeware web page package out there somewhere that will get me past this, by
all means let me know, I'm only using Publisher because I already had it on
my PC. But I'm a very, very, very casual dabbler in the whole area of web
authoring, so would rather abandon the whole thing than lay out big bucks for
the latest and greatest.
