Background will not print

I have a powerpoint presentation where I borrowed a background from a
different presentation. My background is not printing. I have tried
everything I can think of, all I get is the text and graphics that I have
added to the various slides - no backgrounds....... Doe sanyone have any clue
as to why? I have killed a few trees printing out an incorrect presentation.
The help would be very much appreciated.

Don,

If you are printing to black and white
and the background has been added using
Format > background > fill effect > picture
Then it will not print

If you background is on the slide master (or a slide) and you can select the
image... then see
Control how your presentation prints in B/W

It is a color background image that I am trying to print in Black & White.
From TAJ Simmons response, inserting a color image and printing black & white
will not print the image. So i guess I need to find a new way.

That is exactly what I am trying to do... Ok so I need an alternative. How
do I delete the background image now? I can only select a new one.... Do I
just pick a different background and then turn that one off or is there an
easier way?

I found a work around to get the items to print... I have a PDF creator
program that converts anything printed to a PDF. The PDF had the image and I
was able to print via Adobe. Kind of a long way around, but it worked. I'll
set up the next presentation differently.....
