Can anyone advise as to the file format required to run a moving image as the
background on a Powerpoint slide, and indeed can anyone provide me with such
a file - particularly if that file is of moving clouds!!

Markytee,

You won't be able to run a video as the background for anything. But you can
move a still image across a slide using a motion path.
