backing up my Outlook data

J

Jeff D

General question here:
I want to backup my Outlook 2000 data using backup
software, especially my address book, email folders,
notes, tasks and appointments. Is the file I want to
backup called
C:\WINDOWS\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.pst ?
I have noticed this file is 149mb and it is constantly
being modified, so I thought it must be where everything
is stored.

Would I be able to use this same outlook.pst file on a
WinXP computer if I had a drive failure on this Win98
machine and just bought a new computer? I have Outlook
2000 now on the Win98 machine.

You can import the information from the PST files into most versions of
Outlook.

NEVER import a .pst file unless you want to ensure data loss. Use
File->Open->Outlook Data File (or Personal Folders File).
