Backing up Outlook

My wife's HP 'iPAQ' PDA no longer syncs properly with Outlook (Outlook
2002/SP3). The syncing process changes appointment times (only in the PDA)
by an hour. We want to purge the PDA completely and start from scratch, but
my wife is afraid that when the empty PDA syncs with Outlook she might lose
addresses, calendar items, etc. in Outlook on her computer. Is this really a
concern, and if so what's the best way to put everything in Outlook in a
separate file or on a CD so that Outlook can be restored? Thanks!

Look here for all the information you need on backup and restoration of
Outlook data:

http://www.howto-outlook.com/Howto/backupandrestore.htm

You should also check the time zone and daylight saving time settings in
three places -- Windows, Outlook, and the PDA -- and make sure they are all
in agreement. Finally, most PDA sync conduits allow for a one-way
sync....she could set up the sync to have the desktop data overwrite anything
on the PDA after the PDA is cleared (but she should still do the Outlook
backup first, you can't be too careful).
