Here I am again...church site/volunteer.
The site I'm working on will soon be moving from my home computer to the
church computer. To do this I've copies my web site files, including hidden
files, to a CDRW.
I plan to open the CD on the church computer, drag the folder to the
desktop, open the folder in Windows Explorer, select all files and folders,
right click, uncheck Read-Only Attributes, then close Windows Explorer, open
FP then file/open site and publish it to what will be the local site on the
church computer.
I think I understand that so far.
Now there are two other things that I'll need to learn.
1. How to make a daily backup of the file.
Is there a way to publish to the CD from the local? In trial runs here at
home on my WinXPHE I get an error msg when I try to publish from local to the
CD [remote]. "no site exists at this location want to make one?" When I
choose yes it returns to the publish window with no action. Will the results
be different on the church computer which is WinXPPro?
To make a daily backup of the file must I backup the entire site as opposed
to the changed pages only?
2. Is it possible for me to make changes to the local site on my home
computer, back them up on a CD, and then take the CD to the church and get
only the changed pages updated to that computer's local site? I suspect that
the XPHE and XPPro might pose a conflict? Certainly it's easier for me to do
the work here at home, but Clergy wants to have the site resident on their
computer.
Is there a way to do both without an inordinate amount of confusion. I
really appreciate any suggestions you can give me. Remember that I'm a
nontech person and need really clear instructions. You've all been so helpful
to me and I really appreciate it.
Don't think you need it for the answer but here's the url:

Thanks so much
