Backspace Key

Hi

I know there have been a number of posts on this already but the fix isn't
working at my site.

The problem - the backspace key doesn't respond ... users can't click into a
document to highlight with their mouse

The suggested fix (which seems to have worked for most people here) - Word -
Tools - Options - Edit - Make sure that "Typing replaces selection" is checked

Any other suggestions please?!?

Your problem is unclear: what should the backspace key (which deletes
a character to the left) have to do with clicking into a document to
highlight with the mouse?

Can any edits be done within the document? Is it only one document affected
or all?
Not sure if this will help but it wont hurt to try.
Go to Format | Columns and click on the preset picture for One (even if it
already appears to be selected), then OK.
If this solves the problem in a given document, and you are experiencing the
same difficulty in all new documents, you'll need to make this same change in
Normal.dot; see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/BlankDocNotBlank.htm for
instructions on how to fix the template.
