Backspace needs capitals' button to work

Hello

Almost the same post as yesterday but with some additional info

Hi

I got into some really deep water with a software that installs itself onto
Word using macros

Just when I thought everything was ok again, I have lost my 'backspace'
button and can't efface letters in Word

I know it isn't the button on the keyboard that has gone wrong as it is
working now in Outlook and it works in Windows (for instance when I type my
password)

But it is blocked in Word UNLESS I press 'capital' letters at the same time
(the one with the arrow but not the capital lock one)

Any ideas what is going on please?
