Backspace when editing comments

Press the backspace once when editing in a comment and the focus jumps to the
comment. Press it again, and the comment disappears.

This is a long-standing bug. Is this scheduled to be fixed any time soon?

I doubt that it is a bug; it could have been added to prevent
inadvertent deletion of comments. Actually, the same thing happens with
footnotes, endnotes, and fields.

Actually, it *causes* the inadvertent deletion of comments. When writing a
comment, I'll hit the backspace twice to delete characters I've written, and
then the comment is gone! It also happens with some objects, though it
doesn't happen with footnotes or endnotes as far as I've noticed.

What I was referring to was the fact that if the insertion point is to
the right of a footnote or endnote number, a field or a comment and you
then press BackSpace, the item won't be deleted (as an ordinary
character would have been) but selected instead; the item will be
deleted if you press BackSpace a second time (or, of course, if you
press Delete).

I realize now that I misunderstood your first post. Are you saying that
the
comment gets deleted when you edit its text? That I have never seen.

Does this happen with all documents or with specific documents?
Version(s) of Word affected?
