Backspace won't work when I select a block of text? Help!

When I try to select a group of text (a whole sentence for example) and then
hit my backspace button, the cursor just moves to the front of the sentence I
have selected and doesn't delete anything. My backspace will only work if I
backspace one letter at a time. It works in other applications but not
microsoft.

Not Microsoft what? If this problem occurs in Word, then in Word
click on Tools | Options | Edit | check the "Typing replaces
selection" box | OK.

Thanks Garfield-n-odie. I meant to say "Microsoft word". Must have been in
