backup files kept for how long?

I was wondering how long the backup files are kept by ON?
If ON backs my notebook up today, after how many days/months
it will be overwrriten by another back up?
Can I specify the length of time that ON keeps an old back up?

Yes, check out the options to OneNote. You may specify the length of
time to keep a backup.

Tools > Options > Backup

It's more a matter of the number of backups kept instead of the amount of
time a backup is kept.

The relevant options are seen under Tools | Options | Backup. Set the
frequency of the backups and then the number of backups to be kept. Backup
files will be deleted once that number of backup files are created, oldest
first.
